Courtenay Bedell - Licensed Therapist

Courtenay Bedell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of experience walking alongside individuals and families as they navigate the impact of trauma and the work of healing. At Whippoorwill, she serves as a Licensed Therapist, offering deeply attuned, relationally focused psychotherapy to adults with complex trauma histories.

Grounded in the core belief that healing is possible when people are met with dignity, safety, and skilled care, Courtenay brings a steady, compassionate presence to her clinical work. She draws from a rich toolkit of evidence-based practices—including Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, CBT, and attachment-focused modalities—while always tailoring her approach to the unique needs, values, and lived experience of each client. Her work is infused with warmth, clarity, and respect for the human capacity to grow, transform, and reclaim one's story.

Courtenay holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia and is licensed in the state of North Carolina and Colorado. Her clinical background spans public and private systems, including community mental health, residential treatment, and family systems work. She has extensive experience supporting individuals across the lifespan, with particular emphasis on trauma recovery, relational healing, identity development, and nervous system regulation.

As a social worker, Courtenay’s practice is grounded in both clinical excellence and social justice. She understands trauma not only as a psychological experience, but often as a reflection of systemic and relational harm. At Whippoorwill, she is proud to be part of a team that holds space for possibility, meets complexity with nuance, and walks with clients as they build lives rooted in meaning, connection, and resilience.
